Special Note for Hope Equity users
In an effort to become more efficient and less confusing to donors, the Hope Equity website will no longer be a separate entity from Heifer Foundation, and all its Micro-Endowment functions will now be housed within the Heifer Foundation website. Because our endowments strictly support the work of Heifer International, it only makes sense that we keep it in the Heifer family.The only difference you’ll see is that the name, “Hope Equity” will no longer exist. Nothing has changed in the Micro-endowment functionality of your online giving. The areas and initiatives that Heifer supports that are close to your heart will all remain the same. However, your online experience will become more simplified and less confusing.
Heifer Foundation's Micro-Endowment® model allows people of all economic backgrounds to provide sustainable financial support to specific geographical regions, causes or other special interests. Micro-Endowment® gifts are smaller donations that contribute to larger endowments that strictly support the work of Heifer International. The Heifer endowments are carefully invested, and investment returns provide unending resources for Heifer projects around the world.
You may be drawn to a particular culture because of time you invested in that country's people; you may have spent a summer teaching English to eager schoolchildren in China; or perhaps you traveled to Guatemala with a construction team and spent a week building homes for needy families. It may be a particular cause that you are passionate about, such as at-risk youth, AIDS/HIV education or protecting the Earth's dwindling resources. With a Micro-Endowment, your charitable dollars are invested, which, in turn, provides long-term, continuous giving to each of the areas that you choose.

How It Works
Whether it's making a one-time gift to a specific cause or establishing a Micro-Endowment to allow for repeat giving to the different areas you choose, Heifer Foundation invests your charitable dollars, which, in turn, provides more long-term giving to those areas. By setting up a Micro-Endowment account, you can give whenever you choose, then watch as your charitable dollars grow and provide sustainable support to the programs you have designated. Each year, a percentage of the fund is made available to the countries and causes you support.
Partnerships For The Future
The Micro-Endowment model also can be a perfect opportunity for businesses and/or organizations to create their own Micro-Endowment and donate to it online while giving their customers and constituency direct access to see their purchasing power at work for a better world. It not only builds funds for Heifer Foundation endowments; it builds brand loyalty for socially responsible entities.
Businesses can also utilize the Micro-Endowment model as an employee-giving tool to help further demonstrate their corporate social responsibility. This model is a dynamic tool for partnerships and we have the experience and the skills to meet the needs for partnerships in giving.
